I honestly think that most people would look at it and say to themselves, wtf?
I dunno. We all want people to know that JWism is all kinds of total suckage, but I don't think a billboard is the way to go.
a full billboard ad in my area along a busy heavily travelled highway would cost about $500.
would probably get lots of attention and maybe even a news article, who knows.
$500 is cheap and easily affordable.

i haven't posted in a long time.
most trying to recover and still get my head straight, this religion when you find it's not the 'truth' is hard to move on sometimes.
my mom urgently needed to speak to me about a magazine that just came out.
"Jehovah’s Witnesses make up the largest community in the world today that objects to wars"
Political neutrality was one of the most deeply appealing aspects of JWism when I was first learning about them.
It all came a-tumbling down when they reversed themselves on the Alternative Service issue, and in one article that attempted to address the fallout from it basically told old-timers who experienced the horrors of imprisonment back in the day due to their refusal to participate in either military or alternative service, 'Because of YOUR undestanding of the scriptures, you may have experienced imprisonment over the neutrality issue. Now that YOU understand things differently, you may believe that your suffering was pointless. Well, suck it up.'
Never even the slightest allusion to 'We, the chosen representatives of Gawd Almighty, at one time made it 100% clear in the pages of this very magazine that no True Kreeschan can take part in any form of alternative service and those who do so will be kicked out of the Organization of True Kreeschans and left for dead in a New York minute'.
One of the the defining, nausea-inducing moments when I realized how utterly full of shit the WTS was.
Got it :)
mine's was, if your job interfere with the meetings you have to decide who you will choose,.
serving jehovah or serving man, if anyone knew my needs it most definitely was jehovah.

i just received word that ray franz passed away today at 1:37 pm eastern daylight time.
the cause of death is stated as head trauma, likely due to falling to the ground, and a stroke could have also been part of the cause or a result of the fall.
he died at emory university hospital in atlanta about 17 minutes after being taken off life support.
R.I.P. Ray. You touched more people than you know.

Final straw: 2001 district convention drama.
this is one of those things that can amaze you (well, me actually).
you are taught a relentless fear about porn and it gets demonized heavily - but what is the real result?.
most guys don't want a porn star for a wife and separate fantasy from reality in regard to interaction with the opposite sex.. maybe that's why religious types like witnesses demonize it so much: they are unable to distinguish fact from fantasy.. see:.
I've been hooked since i first stumbled across it on cable tv when i was 6 years old. I didn't even understand what was going on exactly, but i was utterly mesmerized by it.
I wonder what evolutionary advantage sexual repression bestows upon groups? There must be some reason why sexual shame is so prevalent in the human psyche. I think it's all about the power of the dominant male, and groups with dominant males who are able to manipulate and shame the other males seem to have higher group cohesion.
It isn't dominance that makes it enjoyable for me to watch. Seeing beautiful women who really really seem to enjoy themselves having sex (and I don't for a minute believe that it's all fake or an act) is what makes it enjoyable. Cuz in real life, i'm kinda like the previous poster. "Is it in yet?" "omg you're done already?" LOLOL
i received this in my fb messages today.. "what a sad,sad individual you are.
and all your apostate pals.
you really do need to open your eyes and see whats happening in the world.
Here's what you should write back:
:)
last night, i went to my parents' house to wash clothes--or so i thought.
apparently, someone's been talking.
so...i get slammed for listening to people on the internet.
My mom even suggested that demons might be on these websites
How does that work exactly? LOLOL
Apparently, these are all "little" things I'm just nitpicking at
Well, if once upon a time you engaged in a very shallow, indoctrination-oriented study of the Bible Watchtower publications that cherry pick various scriptures and throw them into a marvelous, explains-it-all religious soup, and you pretty much just went along with all of it and never really gave it a lot of deep thought, then i guess things like 607 v 587 might seem like nitpicking. I know I took their claims regarding 607 at face value and I never researched it as I didn't see it as being of any major importance. I mean, after all, they didn't teach hellfire and the trinity and the immortality of the soul! (ugh)
But, golly! If Jerusalem really didn't fall in 607 as the Society (and nobody else) maintains, then the whole basis for the modern JW religion is totally kaput! If they would just stop and ponder that for one lousy minute! But they're so fookin' manipulated by the constant and threatening proddings to Maintain Loyalty that to even hold a thought in contrary to Watchtower dogma for a second is virtually impossible for them to do.
the doctrines of jehovah's witnesses are not original.. if they are not original and originating from their "faithful and discreet slave" class of anointed "prophets"--then they must be 2nd hand from other sources.. this would at once disprove the proprietary claims of special relationship with god as his mouthpiece.where did their ideas, doctrines, chronologies and reasonings find their source?
was it the "anointed" slave or was it from earlier failed speculators who had polished a messege that got people worked up into a fervor?.
for the answer to this we must revisit the time of the watchtower society's founder, c.t.
Great post terry. Really all of Christianity is picking the bones of a 1st Century crank-zealot named Paul.
